Sama Veda represents wholeness with 
reference to the Rishi value. It corresponds in 
the physiology to the sensory systems. The 
integration of sensory input into higher order 
perception, allowing wholeness to emerge 
while unmanifesting the specific aspects of 
sensory experience, happens in the cerebral 
cortex. 

The layer of the cerebral cortex which 
receives specific afferent (incoming) sensory 
inputs is Layer IV. This layer corresponds 
to Sama Veda Pratishakhya.
